Torben Kuhlenkasper
Torben Kuhlenkasper is a Professor (Junior Professorship) for Applied Econometrics at Goethe-University Frankfurt since April 2012. He graduated (MA) in Business Administration in October 2006 and in Economics in November 2007 from the Department of Economics at Bielefeld University. Following this, he gained a scholarship of the rectorate of Bielefeld University for his Ph.D. Thesis dealing with empirical economics applied to human capital. He received his Ph.D. at the chair of statistics of Prof. Dr. Kauermann at Bielefeld University in March 2011. He worked as a Senior Economist at the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) since from August 2010 to March 2012 and is currently connected to HWWI as a Research Fellow.

His research interests are especially in the field of empirical economics with the usage of modern, non-parametric statistical methods. In his PhD-project he applies these modern methods to hazard models as well as (Generalized) Additive Mixed Models (GAMMs). Additional to these issues he focuses also on the application of modern statistical methods to questions arising from macroeconomics as well as labour economics with special focus on the economic effects of migration.
